Broiled Lobster Tails with Garlic Lemon Butter
We enjoy Broiled Lobster Tails with Garlic Lemon Butter as a special treat for some of our Valentines' Day dinners. Treat yourself--you won't regret it! #sonomnom4u #BroiledLobsterTailWithGarlicLemonButter
4 (8 oz) Lobster Tails
8 cloves garlic, chopped
zest of 1 lemon
1 tsp red pepper flakes,
1/8 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 cup butter (half a stick)
Clarified Butter (See below)
In a small saucepan on medium low heat, melt 1/2 stick of butter and add 4 cloves of chopped garlic, the zest of 1 lemon, parsely and1 tsp red pepper flakes. Cook for about 2 minutes and pour through a strainer. Keep the heat low and do not burn the butter. Set aside. Keep contents of the strainer, too! Some like it on their lobster, others don't!
Lobster Prep Directions:
Take the lobster tail and a pair of clean kitchen shears and cut a line through the top all the way to the end of the tail. Carefully spread it open a bit where the cut is. Be careful to not cut yourself! now, taking a sppon, carefully separate the sides of the lobster tail from the shell on both sides of the cut and gently pull the tail up in between the cut. Don't pull themeat out. Be gentle and make sure it remains in tact.
Brush the top of each tail generously with the strained garlic butter you made. This will give the lobster a golden coloring when you broil it and a garlicy lemony flavor, too!
Set your oven rack so you have about 5 inches from the top of the lobster to the top of the oven.
Broil about 12-14 minutes, watching often to avoid burning the tails. All broilers vary. Keep a close eye on this process. Tails will be done withn the shell is a gorgeous shade of read and the meat is white with possible golden hues.
Remove from broiler and serve with clarified butter. If you would like, pour the contents from the strained butter on the top of each tail. See picture below)

Clarified Butter Directions:
Melt 1 stick of butter over low heat. Do not stir! Set aside to cool a little bit and let it settle. Gently pour the top layer of the butter into a separate dish, making sure the milky white layer stays in the pot. Discard white. The top is clarified butter. Pour into dipping cups and serve it with Lobster.
