These are so adaptable! Final flavor depends on what flavors you choose to mix! Finished appearance depends on how you decorate them!
1-15.25 oz. box cake mix--any flavor
1-16 oz. container of frosting--any flavor
Food dye, assorted colors
1 package of lollipop sticks (You can find these in the Wilton aisle of Hobby Lobby or Michaels and the baking aisle of some grocery stores)
Bake cake per instructions on cake mix box.
Let cool completely.
in a large bowl, crumble cake. Add icing and mix into crumbled cake until it forms a dough-like substance and is completely mixed.
Gather a 1-1/2" ball using a small scoop or spoon. Roll in hands to smooth ball. place ball on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Melt a 40 oz bag (or smaller amounts of each color/flavor) dipping chocolate wafers in a double boiler or the microwave. Double boiler ensures they won't burn!
You can use white chocolate and food dye to make different colors in separate bowl.
Dip the top of each lollipop stick in melted dipping chocolate and let harden before placing the stick through the ball.
Place a lollipop stick through the ball. This will help keep the ball on the stick. Repeat step until all balls are made. Place cookie sheet of cake pops into the freezer until they are very cold.
Remove very cold cake pops from the freezer and holding onto them by the stick, dip each ball into the melted wafers. Roll and shake gently to let excess coating drop off.
You can place them on a cookie sheet if you don't mind a flat top, or shake them completely off and hold until they begin to cool and place them into a special box you make.
We just place ours upside sown and drizzle with carious colors of melts.
To make box, close a small box and tape shut ( about the size of a Medium Postal box). Poke or drill holes about 2 inches apart all the way across the top. Use these holes to place sticks of dipped cake pops in.
